Children's University

Children’s University (CU) believes every child deserves an equitable and inclusive education to achieve their full potential. CU breaks down perceived barriers into Higher Education and builds awareness of future career opportunities for young people from marginalised backgrounds.

Headquartered at the University of Adelaide, CU supports children aged 5 to 18 from vulnerable communities in educational experiences they may not otherwise have. Inclusive extracurricular learning fosters confidence and life skills, raises awareness of possibilities and supports children’s aspirations. Your donation today will be applied towards the Children's University at the University of Adelaide.

  • A good education leads to the development of personal strengths, skills and self-esteem, which develops resilience throughout the whole life course.
  • Poverty rates among those aged 15 years and over decline sharply as educational qualifications increase, with the risk among those with university education being less than half that for those with no post-secondary qualifications.
  • Since 2013, CU has grown from one school to working with 170 schools and organisations across twelve South Australian areas.
  • In 2024, CU is supporting 4883 children, across 43 school holiday events, 18 University of Adelaide facilitated on-campus experiences, and three tours to industry hubs.

Your gift will support Children's University to deliver opportunities for young students to discover talents and interests that set the foundation for achieving their life goals.

Impact

“I have run the program within my school for the past three years and have seen amazing results. Students have become more and more engaged and excited about extending their learning past the four walls of the classroom.” Teacher, Memorial Oval Primary School, Whyalla.

“I learned how to be a better version of myself from such a young age because of Children’s University. That’s why I’m in uni right now studying Social Work.” Arnaux Mbonimpa (CU 2013 & 2014 graduate).
